Once you have added all the details to your dress, iron it and enjoy your creation! Add any desired details to the dress such as ruffles, buttons, or trim. This will help to keep the fabric from unraveling. Fold up the hemline of the dress and sew in place. Once the seams of the dress have been sewn, finish the edges with a serger or an overlock stitch. Make sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam. Using a sewing machine, sew the seams of the dress in the same order you used while pinning. Make any necessary adjustments and then remove the dress and proceed to the next step. Once you have finished pinning the dress, try it on to make sure that the fit is correct. Secure the shoulder seams, taking care to make sure that the seams are even and straight. Secure the sides of the dress, starting at the hemline and working your way up towards the armholes. Begin by pinning the bottom of the dress, making sure to tuck the seam allowance in towards the wrong side of the fabric. Cut on the folded side of the fabric to achieve two symmetrical pieces.
